SHORT STORIES …

Looking out the 6th floor window of Harris hospital
The hustle and bustle rush by – life in the big city, life in the fast lane
The activity ranges from the max out there to the minimum in here
Or to the living out there and the dying in this place

"I’m not responsible, I have an attitude." he said.
I said "Why you have that attitude?"
"You don’t know what those people did to me." he said.
I said "Obviously, those people must have destroyed your life. My only question to you is, why are you still breathing?"

The freeway is full of angst, uncertainty and unrest
A different story in every car
Is it organized chaos
Or mass confusion?

The hairs on our head are numbered
The breaths we are to take
And perhaps the blinks of our eyes
The Counter gave us this opportunity of life
How have we spent it?
What will the final tally reveal?

All of the above
Some of the above
None of the above

--The choices before me--

Where do I go, How do I go, Why do I go?
To see, To hear, To touch
To live a life of awareness or to live in a cave?
At bat at home plate with the count of 3 and 2
Or hidden in a dark corner of that cave with the doom and gloom?

The uncountable and unfathomable mysteries of human existence
A minute detail here, a minor factoid there
But where am I?
He answered, "To be determined at a later date."

Sitting in the parking lot of the Tom Thumb
Listening to the Duke and looking at a very old live oak tree
Tree said, "Gary, it will all be swell in the by and by."
Gary said, "Really?"

Our attitudes drag us through this life
They can however, be nurtured and enhanced
Are you properly feeding yours or is it surviving on junk food?
